Hats off to the NIC for funding the - Hazing Monograph: Evaluating Hazing and Related Behaviors, Intervention, & Prevention Efforts: A Solutions-Based Approach
I am still seeing this type of programming within IFC communities as well.
I agree, but the new member orientations are a great opportunity to set norms for our students and incoming members.
Remember too that some incoming state-level hazing laws are mandating these sorts of hazing intervention or educational programming.
are the tests given from the National Organization or locally?
From my research, the challenge is that what are the consequences that chapter assigns to the national texts. It allows opportunity for hazing.
For the panelists: thoughts/tips on building an interdisciplinary approach to hazing prevention on campus? Who to involve? How to raise awareness and buy-in?
TJ Horan (he/him)
^ would love suggestions as well, as we're trying to implement a cross-campus hazing prevention coalition
The thought I always have is: what is the point/goal/learning outcomes of new member education? Is it about memorizing information or instilling values. In my experience, it seems like most side with memorizing facts
Steve doesn't have meetings he only has critical conversations!
Contact the PiazzaCenter@psu.edu if you want to get the Hazing prevention matrix
